Who it is for
Physicians preparing for the ABIM Nephrology certification or recertification examination, including nephrology fellows and practicing nephrologists seeking board-focused review in adult nephrology.
What you will learn
- By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Explain the published ABIM Nephrology exam framework if available and organize study by major adult nephrology domains; if exact weighting or wording is not publicly specified, use explicit domain-to-subskill mapping and identify any coverage gaps without guessing hidden priorities.
- Master high-yield concepts, definitions, physiologic principles, pathology correlations, and management rules across adult nephrology, including fluid/electrolyte/acid-base disorders, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, glomerular and vascular disease, tubulointerstitial and toxic injury, h
- Apply nephrology concepts in realistic ABIM-style clinical vignettes requiring diagnosis, interpretation of laboratory and urine data, acid-base analysis, pathology correlation, selection of the most appropriate next step, and longitudinal management within board-exam scope.
- Solve common nephrology calculations and logic tasks accurately when applicable, including urine indices, osmolality-based reasoning, electrolyte/free-water problems, acid-base interpretation, clearance-related reasoning, and dialysis concepts, showing steps rather than using unexplained shortcuts.
- Distinguish closely related renal disorders, common distractors, contraindications, and boundary cases frequently tested in board-style questions.
- Use a consistent problem-solving framework: identify the task → extract key facts → select the governing physiologic or clinical rule → execute → verify against the vignette.
- Build retrieval-ready memory using concise tables, checklists, algorithms, urine sediment/pathology pattern summaries, and spaced-review recap points.
